Our Story
Founded in early 2024 by a team of four carrom-obsessed best friends, Play Carrom is seeded from our deep-rooted love of the game. Our goal is to share the classic South Asian board game with those who haven’t played yet (or just haven’t played in a while)!
Like many first-generation American South Asians, I grew up with a carrom board at home. Unfortunately, like many other immigrant families, we didn’t have much time to play together. Now in my twenties and working a high stress job, I rediscovered the game when my girlfriend (and future co-founder of Play Carrom) bought me a board for Christmas. It became a way for us to spend quality time together without needing to be on a screen or set up complicated board games with tedious rules. Playing carrom again after such a long time made me remember how the game can be a bridge to connect with the people you love.
After sharing it with our two best friends (who became obsessed with it immediately), we decided to start Play Carrom together so we could share the game with as many other people as we possibly can!
As four Gen Z founders, we each grew up surrounded by screens, social media, and constant information overload. Like so many kids of our generation, we’ve been feeling more and more burnt out and disconnected from the real world as time goes on. Playing carrom together helps us disconnect from our screens and re-connect in real life, and we want more than anything to share that experience with you.
Our mission at Play Carrom is simple: to share the joy of carrom with enthusiasts and novices alike, fostering quality time, healthy competition, and creating lasting connections between people of all sorts of backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities.
Let’s play carrom!!!!
